View Upcoming Stats Camp Course List

Euro Camp courses are highly relevant to current trends and practices in modern statistical analysis. Most courses offer practical “hands on” instruction to get students up to speed fast and maximize knowledge takeaway. All Stats Camp Instructors are vetted and selected from the very best in the field. Most are recognized innovators in the field of advanced quantitative methods.

2017 Past Euro Camp Statistics Training Courses Offered in Lisbon Portugal

Session 1

2.5 Days – MON: 9 – 5, TUE: 9 – 5 and WED: 9 – 12:30

May 1st – 3rd, 2017

SEM Foundations

This is an intensive short course on the principles of structural equation modeling. Topics include confirmatory factor analysis, multiple-group comparisons, factorial invariance as well as extended applications such as hierarchical models and multi-level SEM.

Instructor:
Todd D. Little Ph.D. – Professor of Educational Psychology in the newly established Research, Evaluation, Measurement, and Statistics concentration in Educational Psychology at Texas Tech University.

My First Bayes: A Gentle introduction to Bayesian Analysis using Mplus and Blavaan

Although the ideas of inverse probability and Bayes’ theorem have been longstanding within mathematics, these tools have not been at the forefront of modern-day applied statistics.

Instructor:
Rens van de Schoot Ph.D. – Assistant Professor at the Methods and Statistics Department, Utrecht University and Extra-Ordinary Professor at North-West University in South Africa.

Modeling for Grouped & Longitudinal Data

The purpose of this course is to help researchers and students who want to apply multilevel techniques in their research. The course considers multilevel regression models in detail. It starts with an introduction to the basic two- and three-level regression model, estimation methods, and interpretation of results.
Instructor:
Joop Hox Ph.D. – Professor of Social Science Methodology at the Utrecht University.

Applied Latent Class Analysis

An introduction to cross-sectional “person-centered” data analysis. Topics include traditional latent class analysis (i.e., LCA with categorical indicators), multiple group LCA, measurement invariance testing, and modern stepwise methods for modeling predictors and outcomes of latent class membership. Hands-on practice with Mplus is provided.

Instructor:
Katherine Masyn Ph.D. – Associate Professor of Biostatistics at Georgia State University’s School of Public Health.

Basic techniques and new developments in statistical mediation and moderation

This course will cover the basics of doing statistical mediation and moderation, and then move on to explain and demonstrate sophisticated variants of both techniques (e.g., longitudinal mediation) as well as new developments in the field (e.g., bootstrapping, conditional process analysis).

Instructor:
Paul Jose Ph.D. – Professor at the School of Psychology at Victoria University of Wellington, New Zealand

Session 2

2.5 Days – WED: 1:30 – 5, THU: 9 – 5 and FRI: 9 – 5

May 3rd – 5th, 2017

Applied Latent Transition Analysis

An introduction to longitudinal “person-centered” data analysis. Topics include traditional latent transition analysis (i.e., LTA with categorical indicators), multiple group LTA, higher-order LTA, longitudinal measurement invariance testing, modern stepwise methods for modeling predictors, moderators, and outcomes of latent

Instructor:
Katherine Masyn Ph.D. – Associate Professor of Biostatistics at Georgia State University’s School of Public Health

Longitudinal SEM

The course will be a series of lectures and computer workshops to provide participants with advanced training in the use of SEM for the analysis of longitudinal data.

Instructor:
Todd D. Little Ph.D. – Professor of Educational Psychology in the newly established Research, Evaluation, Measurement, and Statistics concentration in Educational Psychology at Texas Tech University.

Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis Workshop

What is a Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis? And what makes for an effective review? Setting up a review for success: Protocol and Inclusion/Exclusion Criteria. Introduction to R and basics of effect sizes in R and EXCEL.

Instructor:
Joshua R. Polanin Ph.D. – Senior Research Scientist at Development Services Group, Inc., a social science research firm that specializes in program evaluation, systematic reviews, and technical assistance.

Introduction to Mplus Workshop

More and more researchers in the social and behavioral sciences use, or want to use, Mplus to analyze their structural equation models. This stats camp course is a 2.5-day workshop on using Mplus.

Instructor:
Elizabeth Grandfield – Elizabeth  is a doctoral student in Quantitative Psychology at the University of Kansas.

Structural Equation Modeling With Lavaan

Acquire understanding of the principles and practice of structural equation modeling, as used in the social and behavioral sciences. Gain expert knowledge in using the R package lavaan. Understand how to deal with multiple groups, missing data, non-normal continuous data, and categorical data in a SEM context.

Instructor:
Yves Rosseel – Yves obtained his PhD from Ghent University, Belgium. He is now an associate professor at the Department of Data Analysis, Faculty of Psychology and Educational Sciences, Ghent University.
