Joshua R. Polanin, Ph.D. is a Senior Research Scientist at Development Services Group, Inc., a social science research firm that specializes in program evaluation, systematic reviews, and technical assistance. Dr. Polanin is the Senior Methodologist on the Department of Education’s What Works Clearinghouse Reviews, Reporting, Dissemination, and Development (R2D2) contract, and Senior Statistician for the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration’s National Registry of Evidence-based Programs and Practices (NREPP). Dr. Polanin was recently awarded a National Institutes of Justice Comprehensive School Safety Initiative grant to conduct a systematic review and meta-analysis of the consequences of school violence. In the past, he has conducted 12 meta-analyses and has published the results in the Review of Educational Research, Pediatrics, and School Psychology Review. Dr. Polanin co-founded and serves as the Co-Program Chair of the Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis Special Interest Group at AERA, is on the Editorial Board of the Review of Educational Research, and is the former Managing Editor of the Campbell Collaboration Methods Coordinating Group. He has taught numerous systematic review and meta-analysis workshops, most recently at the 2016 Society for Prevention Research Conference in San Francisco.
